Zhilyanska Street in Kyiv stretches from Shota Rustaveli Street all the way to the Pivotroflotskiy Overpass, and Borshchagivska Street is its extension. The name of this street dates back to the 1830s and comes from the name of the Zhelany or Žylany locality.

In the period between 1926 and 1993, the street bore the name of B. P. Zhadanivskyi. Initially, in the 1930s, it had its way from Prozorivska Street (now Esplanadna) to Skomorosky Lane near Victory Square. However, during the construction of the Red Stadium (later known as M. Khrushchev Central Stadium, Republican Stadium, and now NSC “Olimpiyskiy”), the beginning of the street was moved first to the edge of the stadium, and then, in the 1970s, up to Shota Rustaveli Street.

The end of the street, on the opposite side, was expanded in the 1950s and 1960s by rebuilding the old buildings, but only to the present limits. The initial stretch of the street served as a narrow and scenic artery, used exclusively for tram tracks. However, in the 70s, a wide highway with a high-speed tram route appeared in its place.

To date, the construction company LLC NVF RELE has undertaken the reconstruction of the architectural monument, introduced a modern elevator in the old houses, and also replaced all internal communications. Historical and cultural heritage not only remained intact, but also received a new life reflection thanks to modern infrastructure and innovative approaches.
